Ottawa Police - Friend or Foe?

This site is built to share information with
you on the current problem plaguing our city
-- Ottawa police abuse and bullying...
  Time for change!

The current Ottawa police force is made
up of too many young officers who are
not only inexperienced but also lacking
required mentorship.

As a retired officer indicated on CJOH news with
Charlie Greenwell, "New recruits are being
assigned patrol duty far too early in
their careers".

The purpose of this site is to bring awareness about some police officers who are in the habit of abusing their powers of authority as well as provide real life stories of people who have experienced police abuse or bullying in our city.

One voice against the "force" is not enough.  We need to stand together to achieve the final goals:
  1. Better Training and Experience -- The police require more training and experience to handle certain situations.  There is a current lack of mentors to teach the young officers how to better control circumstances without the use of violence.    The attitude of these officers needs to be defined to suit their vocation reminding them that they are working for, not against, the public.  They are already in a powerful position and should ensure that people look up to them so as we can all work together to make the city safe; they do not need to resort to fear tactics and violence which causes the public to distrust these powers of authority.
  2. Police Complaint Processes and Procedures - Witnesses should be able to make a complaint and an impartial body at the scene of the incident should hear their comments and take their statements and not side with either the police or the public.  They should not be told to put their complaints at the police station where the current complaint specifically states it "must be YOU affected DIRECTLY".  All complaints should be addressed taken into consideration for review and these complaints should not be directed to the police but to an outside, impartial body.
